Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo said agriculture has now become a global business and collaboration is the key word for today’s agricultural business.
“Collaboration is the keyword for the agricultural business model. We are no longer talking about regions, such as Java, Sulawesi or Kalimantan, but globally. So connectivity between you (young farmers) is very important to build an ecosystem,” Syahrul said in a written statement received by ANTARA in Jakarta, Sunday.
This was conveyed by the Minister of Agriculture at the “Local Champion” Millennial Farmers Workshop in Makassar, South Sulawesi on Saturday (22/7). This workshop is the second time it has been held after previously being held in 2022.
In this activity KUR was also distributed to 225 Millennial Farmers assisted by the Ministry of Agriculture with a total value of IDR 10,471,000,000.
Minister of Agriculture SYL also said that the Ministry of Agriculture had set a policy direction for agricultural development, namely Advanced, Independent and Modern Agriculture.
“This policy direction is a guideline for acting intelligently, carefully and accurately for the ranks of the Ministry of Agriculture in achieving better performance, optimizing available resources, utilizing the latest technology and farmer corporations according to the President’s direction,” he said.
Syahrul hopes that the Millennial Farmers Workshop will be able to produce strategies for business growth, market networking, technology exchange and innovation, as well as global climate change mitigation. After the workshop, the participants are expected to be able to collaborate between participants and the business world.
He also added that taking care of agriculture may not be able to buy luxury, but it certainly gets peace.
“You will be calm, you can still eat and live well. You are in the right place to lead a better life. Agriculture is profitable, agriculture is not dirty, that was the image of the past, you are the ones who make farming cool and profitable,” he said.
On the same occasion, the Head of the Agricultural Human Resources Counseling and Development Agency (BPPSDMP) Dedi Nursyamsi said the Millennial Farmers Workshop also carried out all the Ministry of Agriculture’s flagship programs.
“Especially innovative and collaborative programs in growing young agricultural entrepreneurs,” said Dedi.
One of them is the TANI AKUR Program (Millennial Farmer Access KUR) which is a collaboration to facilitate access to financing for farmers with affordable interest rates.
“With easy financing, it is hoped that it will be able to encourage an increase in the business scale of millennial farmers,” he said.
The Millennial Farmers Workshop was attended by 500 Millennial Farmers and 200 people from Polbangtan students and invited guests.
Dedi hopes that this activity can give birth to millennial farmers to accelerate the active role of millennial farmers in Indonesia’s agricultural development.
“Through this event, millennial farmers are brought together with the banking sector and the business world with the hope that after returning from this workshop, they will become local champions in their respective regions,” said Dedi.
The 2023 Millennial Farmers Workshop is also filled with various activities, such as Exhibitions of Superior Agricultural Products, Team Building and Group Formation, Motivators “Building Creative Businesses for Millennial Farmers”.
In addition, there are activities for launching the Learning Management System (LMS) Application, YESS Award, Local Champion Award 2023, and Millennial Farmers Access KUR.
