West Java prepares isolation room and oxygen to anticipate Omicron surge

Garut, The Indonesia Post – West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil stated that the provincial government had prepared hospitals as isolation and oxygen rooms to anticipate the surge in cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, which cases have now been found in a number of areas.

“We are preparing for the anticipation of Omicron, an integrated isolation hospital, we have prepared oxygen,” said Ridwan Kamil after the inauguration of the Garut Square in Garut Regency, Sunday.

He said the central and provincial governments had taken anticipatory steps to deal with the surge in Omicron cases, one of which was setting up isolation rooms and oxygen.

The man who is familiarly called Kang Emil said that Omicron cases had already been found in a number of areas in West Java, such as Bekasi, Depok, and Bogor.

Meanwhile, in other areas, he said, such as the East Priangan region, including Garut Regency, there were no cases of COVID-19 with the Omicron variant, however, they must remain vigilant by complying with health protocols and being vaccinated.

“So the majority of those in West Java are in Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi, but the news has not yet spread in the Priangan area,” he said.

He revealed that the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 case was known to come from people who previously returned from a country where Omicron cases were found.

“One hundred percent of Omicron are imported, so most of them come from overseas travel, escort, tightening is good at the airport,” he said.

He hopes that in 2022 there will be even more maximum handling of COVID-19, including preventive measures by promoting COVID-19 vaccination for all circles of society.

“I received a report that 84 percent of the vaccinations have been received, so God willing, we can handle Omicron well as long as we run the program,” he said. (ojn/bbs)
