Kuala Lumpur, The Indonesia Post – The Malaysian Immigration Office (JIM) noted that as many as 5,173 Indonesian citizens (WNI) passed in and out of Malaysia’s main gates since the country’s international borders were opened from Friday, April 1, 2022, to Monday, April 4, 2022.
“They enter and exit through the main entrances in Malaysia, namely KLIA and KLIA2 Airports, the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) and the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) in Johor, Padang Besar in Perlis, Bukit Kayu Hitam in Kedah, Kota Kinabalu Airport. in Sabah, Kuching Airport and the entrance to the Tujoh River in Sarawak,” JIM Director General Khairul Dzaimee Bin Daud said in a statement to the media in Putrajaya, Thursday.
Based on this number, 126,392 (arrivals) and 28,301 (departures) are Malaysian citizens, while 55,121 (arrivals) and 42,916 (departures) are foreign travelers.
The five countries that recorded the highest number of tourists were Singapore (65,165), Thailand (7,841), Indonesia (5,173), India (2,477) and the United Kingdom (1,485).
Meanwhile, the entrances to countries that recorded the highest number of movements of foreign nationals were as follows: Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) (160.818), KLIA Airport (38,407), Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (Second Link) (53,113), Kuala Lumpur Airport 2 (KLIA2) (11,712); and Bukit Kayu Hitam (6,980).
In addition, the issuance of international Malaysian passports at immigration offices throughout the country is predicted to continue to increase as citizens take advantage of the opening of borders for the purpose of traveling abroad and performing Umrah.
Based on the statistics above, there is a significant increase compared to before the country’s borders were opened. The movement in and out of foreigners recorded an increase of 76.4 percent while passport issuance recorded an increase of 38.2 percent compared to the same tempo in March 2022.
“JIM will continue to cooperate with other agencies to ensure that movement at the entrances of the country runs smoothly. However, JIM reminds citizens, especially foreign tourists, to always comply with the protocols of the Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM) and the Immigration regulations that have been set. “To the Malaysian people, they are advised to listen to the blacklist on the JIM portal or kiosk (application) at KLIA,” he said.
