Myanmar Crisis, President: The safety and welfare of the people is the top priority

Bogor, The Indonesia Post – President Joko Widodo expressed his condolences and sympathy to the victims and their families for the violence that occurred in Myanmar. Through an official statement from the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, on Friday, 19 March 2021, the President also urged that the use of violence in Myanmar be stopped immediately.

“On behalf of myself and all the people of Indonesia, I would like to express my deep sorrow and sympathy to the victims and their families of victims of the use of violence in Myanmar. Indonesia urges that the use of violence in Myanmar be stopped immediately so that there are no more victims, “he said.

The Head of State emphasized that the safety and welfare of the people must be a top priority for the resolution and handling of the situation in Myanmar.

On this occasion, the President also said that Indonesia urged related parties so that dialogue and reconciliation can be carried out immediately to restore democracy, peace, and stability in Myanmar.

“I will immediately hold talks with the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam as Chair of ASEAN to make possible the holding of an ASEAN summit to discuss the crisis in Myanmar,” he said. (rmt/bbs)
