Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra, H. Herman Deru, welcomed a courtesy visit from the leadership of the Regional Leadership Council (DPW) of the Indonesian Islamic Da’wah Institute (LDII) of South Sumatra. The meeting, held in the Governor’s Guest Room on Thursday (July 24, 2025), took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere.
The delegation was led by the Chairman of DPW LDII South Sumatra, H. Rahmatulloh, S.Ag., M.Si., accompanied by Secretary Jusef Imelsa, Deputy Secretary Wildan Sholih, M.Si., and Head of Youth Affairs H. Sudarno, S.Pd.
The meeting served as a strategic moment to strengthen synergy between LDII and the South Sumatra Provincial Government in supporting regional development, particularly in the fields of religion, social affairs, and youth empowerment.
Governor Herman Deru warmly welcomed the visit and expressed appreciation for LDII’s consistent role in maintaining interfaith harmony and promoting inclusive, peaceful, and compassionate da’wah.
“We appreciate LDII’s progress. Our hope is that the message of Islam will continue to flourish through peaceful preaching, so that more people will be drawn to embrace Islam,” said Governor Deru.
On this occasion, the Governor also shared an inspiring story from his meeting with the Palestinian Minister of Agriculture and a cleric from Gaza. He expressed admiration for the productivity of the Palestinian people despite living amid conflict.
“I was deeply moved to learn that they can still export grapes, dates, and olive oil from Gaza. This is extraordinary. Their limitations do not prevent them from being productive,” he remarked.
He added that this experience should serve as a reminder for the people of South Sumatra not to take peace and abundant resources for granted, but instead to use them as a motivation to keep creating and innovating. (mhn/ril)
