During the Corn Harvest in South OKU, Deputy Governor Cik Ujang Encourages Farmers to Strengthen Food Self-Sufficiency

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Deputy Governor of South Sumatra, H. Cik Ujang, along with the South Sumatra Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Pol. Dr. Sandi Nugroho, SIK, SH, M.Hum., attended the Simultaneous Corn Harvest for the Second Quarter of 2026 organized by the South Sumatra Regional Police. The harvest took place in Bumi Agung Jaya Village, Buat Rawan District, OKUS, Saturday (May 16, 2026).

This bumper harvest was also connected with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo via a zoom meeting from Tuban, East Java.

In his remarks, President Prabowo emphasized that food security is a crucial foundation for a nation’s sustainability. He urged all elements of the nation to work hard to maintain national food sustainability.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor Cik Ujang considered the bumper corn harvest a clear demonstration of the enthusiasm of South Sumatran farmers in increasing regional food production. He appreciated the support of the South Sumatra Regional Police and all parties who continue to assist farmers in developing corn farming.

“South Sumatra has significant potential in the agricultural sector, supported by fertile natural resources and continuously evolving agricultural technology. The support of modern agricultural tools and machinery is now making it easier for farmers to increase production,” said Cik Ujang.

According to him, if food is available and people are prosperous, life will be better. The key is hard work, perseverance, and constant prayer.

In addition to the handover of corn seeds, tractors and hand tractors to farmer groups, the activity was also marked by the symbolic release of the corn harvest to the Bulog warehouse for further distribution to communities in need.

South Sumatra Police Chief Sandi Nugroho also expressed his appreciation for the synergy between all parties in supporting the national food security program in South Sumatra. He expressed his hope that collaboration between the regional government, the National Police, and farmers would continue to be strengthened to improve community welfare and achieve national food self-sufficiency.
