Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Deputy Governor of South Sumatra, H. Cik Ujang, invited all levels of society to make the momentum of the ulama’s haul a means of strengthening faith and emulating the struggles and noble morals of the ulama in guiding the people.
He conveyed this when attending and giving a speech at the Haul Akbar event of KH Ali Umar Thoyib which took place solemnly at the Griya Asri Sungai Buah Complex, Palembang, on Sunday (17/5/2026).
In his remarks, Cik Ujang emphasized that the late KH Ali Umar Thoyib was a charismatic cleric whose dedication was enormous for regional progress, especially in the religious field.
“KH Ali Umar Thoyib was a charismatic cleric who made significant contributions to Islamic preaching, Islamic boarding school education, and the development of community morals,” said Cik Ujang.
Through this commemoration, the Deputy Governor hopes that the noble values, knowledge, and exemplary character passed down by the deceased will live on and be implemented by the younger generation in their daily lives, in order to create a religious and noble South Sumatran society.
