Palembang, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra Vice Governor H. Cik Ujang today attended an important coordination meeting regarding the regional boundary dispute between Musi Banyuasin (Muba) Regency and North Musi Rawas (Muratara) Regency. The meeting, held at the Bina Praja Meeting Room on Wednesday (July 30, 2025), was also attended by Deputy for Domestic Political Coordination, Wiranto, M.M., M.Tr (Han), along with his staff.
Deputy Wiranto explained that the meeting was a follow-up to complaints concerning the boundary dispute between Muba and Muratara. The complaints were submitted through letters from the Musi Banyuasin Regency DPRD, the Regent of Musi Banyuasin, and the DPRD to the President.
He further stated that a special team would soon be formed to resolve the boundary issue in order to prevent prolonged conflict.
“We want to establish concrete steps for resolution and also review the measures already taken by the local government together with Forkopimda regarding this dispute. We hope for a persuasive and peaceful settlement,” Wiranto said, underlining the importance of maintaining national security and avoiding inter-community conflict.
Meanwhile, South Sumatra Vice Governor H. Cik Ujang explained that North Musi Rawas Regency was a result of the division of Musi Rawas Regency, established through Law Number 16 of 2013 dated July 10, 2013.
He added that following the boundary determination process, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued Regulation Number 50 of 2014 concerning the Regional Boundaries of North Musi Rawas Regency and Musi Banyuasin Regency. This regulation was later amended through Ministry of Home Affairs Regulation Number 76 of 2014.
Also present at the meeting were South Sumatra Regional Secretary H. Edward Candra, South Sumatra DPRD Chairman Andie Dinialdie, and other Forkopimda officials.
