Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Speaker of the South Sumatra Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), Andie Dinialdie, affirmed the DPRD’s full support for the implementation of Operation Ketupat Musi 2026 in preparation for the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri celebrations. However, he emphasized the importance of ensuring the readiness of transportation and infrastructure.
This was conveyed by Andie when attending a cross-sectoral Coordination Meeting (Rakor) with the Governor of South Sumatra Herman Deru, the South Sumatra Regional Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, the Commander of the II/Sriwijaya Military Command Brigadier General Iwan Ma’ruf Zainudin, and related elements at Griya Agung Palembang, Thursday (12/3/2026).
According to Andie, the Transportation Agency must ensure that all modes of transportation used by the public during the homecoming and return journeys have undergone thorough feasibility testing.
“Transportation readiness must be ensured, including a feasibility test for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr transportation system. This is crucial to ensure public safety,” he stressed.
He also highlighted the need for serious attention to the condition of strategic infrastructure such as roads, bridges, ports, and airports. He continued, explaining that anticipating congestion and accident-prone areas must be implemented early through solid inter-agency coordination.
“The condition of roads, bridges, ports, and airports must be a shared concern. We appreciate the precautionary measures taken at vulnerable locations and urge the public to prioritize safety during their homecoming journey,” he said.
The coordination meeting revealed several routes of primary concern during the Eid homecoming and return period, including the Central Crossroads, the East Crossroads, and the Palembang-Jambi arterial route. Furthermore, several toll roads, such as the Palindra, Kapal, TBPPKA, Indrapra, and Betajam toll roads, were mapped as strategic routes with several accident- and congestion-prone areas.
Andie believes that this mapping is important as a basis for taking preventive measures, including personnel placement, traffic engineering, and educating the public about traffic discipline.
He hopes that the entire series of Operation Ketupat Musi 2026 can run optimally, especially during the peak period of the homecoming flow which is estimated to occur on March 17, 2026 and the return flow on March 28-29, 2026.
“Public safety is a priority. With strong coordination and thorough preparation, we hope the people of South Sumatra can celebrate Eid al-Fitr safely and comfortably,” he concluded. (mhn/bbs)
