Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – President Joko Widodo presided over the Commemoration of the Seconds of the Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia which was held at the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace, Monday, August 17, 2020.

Carrying the theme “Advanced Indonesia”, the commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence this time represents Pancasila as a guide to the life of the nation and state that strengthens Indonesia’s sovereignty, unity and unity in filling independence.
The diversity of Indonesia is united through collaboration to introduce the nation’s identity and create strength and opportunities to work without boundaries.
Even though it was held on a limited basis to adapt and carry out health protocols in the midst of a pandemic, the commemoration ceremony on August 17, 2020 continued solemnly. The invited guests and the community who participated in the ceremony virtually from various backgrounds were also enthusiastic about the procession.
Seventeen cannons blaring from the direction of the National Monument Park accompanied by the sound of a long siren marked the start of the Seconds Commemoration of the Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace.
The Chairman of the People’s Representative Council, Bambang Soesatyo, read out the text of the proclamation which was proclaimed 75 years ago, Ir. Soekarno, as a sign of Indonesia’s freedom from colonialism.
After that, President Joko Widodo, as the inspector of the ceremony, led the ceremony participants, both those who were present on a limited basis and those who participated in a virtual silence. The Minister of Religion, Fachrul Razi, then guided the prayer reading.
The raising of the Red and White flag was carried out by three Paskibraka members who were able to carry out their duties properly. The Red and White looked dashing in the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace.
The presentation of the songs “Hari Merdeka” and “Syukur” by Gita Bahana Nusantara which was broadcast virtually ended the procession before the Ceremony Commander reported to the Ceremony Inspector that the series of Commemoration of the Seconds of the Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia had been completed.
For information, the procession of the Seconds Commemoration of the Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia was held by implementing strict health protocols. In addition to wearing masks and maintaining a distance, participants or limited ceremonial devices are also subject to medical checks first.
A number of leaders of state high institutions and ministers were present in person at the commemoration ceremony, namely the Chairman of the MPR Bambang Soesatyo, Chairman of the DPR Puan Maharani, Chairman of the DPD La Nyalla Mattalitti, Chairman of BPK Agung Firman Sampurna, Chairman of the Supreme Court Muhammad Syarifuddin, Chairman of the Constitutional Court Anwar Usman, Chairman of KY Jaja Ahmad Jayus, Minister of Religion Fachrul Razi, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, and National Police Chief General Pol. Idham Azis.
Meanwhile, the previous President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia followed the proceedings of the ceremony virtually from their respective residences. (imf/bbs)
