Development of Steam Power Plant 8 in South Sumatra Reaches 72%, HD Optimists South Sumatra Becomes National Energy Storehouse

Lahat, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra’s desire to become a national energy storehouse is becoming increasingly real. With the construction of the Tanjung Lalang Steam Power Plant (PLTU) or better known as PLTU 8 Sumsel.

“The construction of the Tanjung Lalang PLTU further proves that South Sumatra is a national energy barn,” said the Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru while reviewing the progress of the South Sumatra 8 PLTU construction, Saturday (13/3).

Moreover, the construction of a PLTU with a capacity of 2 X 660 megawatts by PT Bukit Asam in collaboration with a company from the Bamboo Curtain country is said to be the largest and capable of supplying electricity needs on the island of Sumatra.

“In fact, we can supply our electrical energy to other islands if the underwater power grid is available. This will be the only special economic area for energy which will also produce coal into gas and other production products and this is the first time,” he explained.

HD himself stated his support for the construction of the PLTU. Because, he considered, the PLTU would have a good impact on South Sumatra. (jek/ril)
