Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Advocacy meeting for the plan to use the Port of New Palembang in Tanjung Carat which was chaired directly by the Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru. HD said this meeting invited policy makers so that the Tanjung Carat port could later become more efficient.
HD emphasized that the South Sumatra Provincial Government and Banyuasin Regency Government were serious, on this occasion his party emphasized that there was an immediate need for the construction of this port, because this is a necessity.
In addition, the disclosure of this has also entered the process of the National Strategy Project (PSN), and there are no administrative requirements that must be corrected. To accelerate each process, HD invites all relevant stakeholders to support the implementation of this port development, both from roads, clean water, electricity, and so on.
The Head of BI Representative for South Sumatra, Hari Widodo, said that Tanjung Carat Port can have a positive impact on supporting economic growth in South Sumatra
The economic growth of South Sumatra (Sumsel) can grow because it is influenced by the positive performance of exports by 27 percent and investment by 35 percent, for a total of 62 percent. Therefore, export activities really need to be properly facilitated and make the construction of Tanjung Carat Port an urgent need.
The existence of Tanjung Carat Port infrastructure will also be an incentive for the development of the TAA SEZ so that it is hoped that it will invite investors to invest in South Sumatra. In addition, this will also provide cost-efficiency in logistics for export-import activities that were originally from other ports with long distances that can be transferred to Tanjung Carat.
Assistant II for Economics and Finance, Dr. Ekowati Retnaningsih, SKM., M. Kes explained the progress of Tanjung Carat Port development. The location of New Palembang Port in Tanjung Carat is located in the village of Marga Sungsang, Breech I, Sungsang II, Banyuasin District, South Sumatra Province, with a channel depth of 14 meters.
