Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru (HD) attended the closing activity of the basketball tournament between high school / vocational students throughout the city of Palembang.
The South Sumatra Governor’s Cup 2021 will be attended by 28 Men’s Teams and 16 Women’s Teams from SMA/SMK schools in Palembang City which will be held from 28 September – 6 October 2021.
In addition to closing the event, HD also had the opportunity to hand over the Rotating Trophy and Fixed Trophy to the Basketball Team that won the competition.
From the Men’s Basketball category, 1st place was won by SMA N 6 Palembang, 2nd place was won by SMA N 1 Palembang, and 3rd place was won by SMA N 2 Palembang.
From the Women’s Basketball category, 1st place was won by SMA N 11 Palembang, 2nd place was won by SMA N 6 Palembang, and 3rd place was won by SMA N 5 Palembang.
On this occasion, HD congratulated the winners and thanked all the participants, trainers and the organizing committee who had participated in making the sporting activity a success.
“I hope activities like this can continue to be held in the hope of producing young athletes in the field of basketball,” said HD.
HD also emphasized that basketball does not look at social status that can be played by anyone and this sport is also useful for strengthening and establishing friendships between students, between schools and between regions in South Sumatra.
“We have to prepare early on, from the infrastructure, players and coaches, especially in basketball, so that this sport can continue to be preserved and be useful as a forum for building friendships,” concluded HD. (jek/ril)
