Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The launching of the market price by the Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru (HD) in the form of cheap packaged cooking oil of Rp. 14,000/liter as much as 52 Tons of Liters and Medium Rice of Rp. 9,000, -/Kg as much as 60 Tons which was carried out at Pasar Alang – Alang Lebar Palembang.
“This is done so that the public will know more quickly about the policies and steps taken by the government in order to control and stabilize the prices of important basic needs in the market,” HD explained.
HD also considers that although the highest price for basic needs has been set, of course this must be monitored so that the policy is actually implemented in the field or in the market.
“I remind all palm oil entrepreneurs, sugar company owners and Bulog to prioritize regional interests so that there is no shortage. We also have to think about low-income households, if necessary we must make a special subsidy policy for them”, said HD.
In addition, HD also provides education to market visitors, especially housewives, to be independent in meeting basic needs such as chilies, onions and others that can be produced independently, “this is also a form of community support in the success of food-independent South Sumatra”, said HD.
Closing his speech, HD asked that the quota for medium rice could be increased more. Regarding vitamin rice for babies, he asked that the rice be given free of charge to underprivileged people who have babies to prevent stunting.
Meanwhile K. South Sumatra Province Trade Office, Drs. H. Akhmad rizali, MA said that in addition to providing rice and oil at low prices, his party also provided sugar at a price of Rp. 12,500/KG as much as 1 ton which will be sold at several market points in South Sumatra.
Also present were the Head of the South Sumatra BI Representative Office, Harry Widodo, the President Director of PD Pasar, Abdul Rizal, the Head of BPS Prov. Sumsel, Dr. Ir. Zulkipli, M.Si, and the Heads of OPD Prov. South Sumatra. (mhn/ril)
