Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Trade Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo Irman Adi Purwanto said that a coffee shop from Indonesia was inaugurated again in Egypt, which is a sign that the coffee business from Indonesia continues to increase to open up bigger market opportunities.
“We appreciate El Omda Coffee’s dedication and hard work in importing Indonesian robusta coffee products in recent years. The Indonesian Embassy in Cairo also hopes for an increase in imports of Arabica coffee and specialty coffee products from Indonesia,” said Irman in a statement received in Jakarta, Tuesday.
This was conveyed by Irman when representing the Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt at the inauguration of the El Omda Coffee Shop in Cairo, Egypt.
In his remarks, the owner of El Omda Coffee Haji Emad Attia expressed his gratitude and highest appreciation for the ongoing support from the Indonesian Ambassador and the entire range of Trade and Economic Attaches of the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo in importing superior robusta coffee products from Indonesia.
Haji Emad explained that in 2022, his party will increase coffee imports from Indonesia due to the high level of coffee consumption in Egypt.
“In 2021, we managed to import 60 containers of coffee from Indonesia. Now in 2022, we are targeting 100 containers with a value of around US$4.14 million or Rp. 59.59 billion,” said Haji Emad.
Meanwhile, General Manager of El Tawargy Wael M El Tawargy, who is a business partner of El Omda Coffee, added that the opportunity for coffee exports to Egypt is very wide open. This makes it possible for Indonesian coffee farmer cooperatives to strengthen coffee quality and communicate directly with buyers from Cairo.
“What you need to pay attention to when you make a transaction is to comply with the commitments regarding the price agreement and carry out export procedures according to the provisions,” explained Wael.
Based on statistical data from the Central Statistics Agency, Indonesia’s coffee exports in the January-November 2021 period to Egypt reached 79.20 million US dollars, an increase of 57.79 percent compared to the same period in the previous year of 55.02 million US dollars. (ojn/bbs)
