Anies: MotoGP Mandalika has succeeded in making Indonesia proud in the eyes of the world

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan stated that the MotoGP racing event, the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) had succeeded in making Indonesia proud in the global arena.

“The success of the Mandalika GP not only makes Lombok proud but also Indonesia. Everyone needs to support success because it brings pride to the country,” said Anies through his personal Instagram account @aniesbaswedan in Jakarta, Sunday.

According to him, the Mandalika MotoGP was successful because it was thanks to the work of all parties who ensured the smooth running of the world event.

National teams and riders, as well as citizens from all over Indonesia, supported and watched the second race in this year’s MotoGP calendar which took place at Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit, NTB.

“Highest appreciation to all parties who ensured the smooth running of the Mandalika GP event,” he said.

In fact, he continued, when heavy rain and lightning had caused the race schedule to be postponed for a moment, it did not dampen the enthusiasm of the spectators who were present in person.

“The heavy rain did not dampen the enthusiasm of the thousands of spectators in the stands of the Mandalika Circuit today. Thank God, I was able to visit Lombok again and witness history being made at the Mandalika Moto GP,” he said.

The former Minister of Education and Culture added that the success of the motorcycle racing world championship proved that Indonesia was able to host world-class events, especially in the field of sports, such as when it hosted the 2018 Asian Games.

“This kind of global activity makes Indonesia proud, echoes Indonesia’s name on the world stage,” said Anies.

The governor of DKI became one of the spectators in the stands watching the world championship of motorcycle racing, MotoGP, after 25 years Indonesia hosted it in 1997 at the Sentul Circuit, Bogor.

“In the future, continue to support so that similar activities can continue to be carried out properly, to give a message to the world that we are ready to rise again from the challenges of the pandemic,” said Anies.

Anies was in Central Lombok not only watching MotoGP, but also attending the Thousand Islands tourism promotion booth which was held on the sidelines of the Mandalika MotoGP titled Mandalika Experience Expo 2022.

In the promotion of tourism, Anies launched the Thousand Islands tourism application called “Pulo 1000”. (mhn/bbs)
