Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Indonesian Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Johnny G. Plate confirmed that there was no hacking of internet access related to the planned demonstration or demonstration by students on Monday (11/4).
“Yes, the government has never done hacking. There is no such thing as hacking,” he said, in Jakarta, Sunday.
However, he said, what needs to be known is that cyber attacks occur every second. Therefore, all parties must be able to maintain each digital space properly.
This includes maintaining encryption to changing passwords periodically. These efforts are to avoid hacking the digital space, said the Minister of Communication and Information.
The Minister of Communication and Information regrets that if there are cyber attacks, it is not uncommon for the government to be the accused. Moreover, if there is an agenda or large-scale activities such as demonstrations.
In fact, he said, the main task of the government is how to optimally protect every digital space from cyber attacks that occur almost every second.
As the Minister of Communication and Informatics, Johnny emphasized his commitment to maintaining press freedom, opinion, association, and so on. However, what is a problem and needs to be understood by the public is cyber attacks that occur continuously.
On that occasion, he anticipated and reminded the public to be aware of hoaxes that were spread continuously or repeatedly.
In the end, he explained, the hoax that was continuously disseminated was considered by some people, especially those with minimal literacy, as a truth.
“There should be no hoaxes, misinformation, and disinformation that are produced and circulated in the digital space,” he stressed.
As a ministry that deals directly with this matter, the Ministry of Communication and Information will clean the digital space of hoaxes, he said. (ojn/bbs)
