“We see that archeology is a vertical institution but its existence has not been heard of, not many people know that here is the Archaeological Office, whereas in fact there are many cultural heritages in South Sumatra, we want the Archeology office which will soon become the center of Brin to be useful for South Sumatra, especially regarding cultures. “This cultural heritage in South Sumatra needs to be preserved, so from Dapil 1 the city of Palembang, we explored a lot of things and the response was very positive,” she said.
The historical problem in South Sumatra, according to the Golkar Party politician, is very worrying, especially since the history lesson wants to be abolished, because history lessons, both national and local, must be informed.
“It’s like there used to be history lessons, local content, this is useful so that our children know about history, how the struggle of the heroes was, how the struggle of their predecessors was so that they have the same motivation as that,” she said.
Member of the South Sumatra DPRD for the Palembang city electoral district who is also the Deputy Chair of Commission V of the South Sumatra DPRD Mgs Syaiful Padli admitted that his party received a lot of aspirations and information and sharing from researchers and archaeologists, historians, culturalists, history teachers, environmental activities and others and will be brought to plenary session of the South Sumatra DPRD.
“The most important thing is that this nation’s journey cannot be separated from history and historical findings, one of which is through cultural heritage and archaeological sites, so what was conveyed today is mostly included in the Commission V program of the South Sumatra DPRD and the message of the Chairman of the South Sumatra DPRD will be escorted by the budget agency. DPRD of South Sumatra,” he said,
The Head of the South Sumatra Archeology Office, represented by senior archaeologist Retno Purwanti, said that in the future the South Sumatra Archaeological Office will no longer exist but will become a joint office with the National Research and Innovation Agency (Brin) of the Republic of Indonesia, which until now has joined the office at the Archaeological Office, namely the Environment Office (Forestry Agency). ) previously they had offices in Punti Kayu, Language Center with offices in Jakabaring, Research and Public Fisheries Center.
“What is clear for researchers and us is that there are 30 researchers, but we are still waiting from several researchers in other offices and institutions, the possibility of the KKP joining us,” he said.
With the inclusion of several researchers in the future, they can work together so that the archeology will no longer be visible.
In addition, Retno admitted that she was concerned about the city of Palembang, which is the oldest city in Indonesia and that there are dates of birth, month and year of birth where in June Palembang will be 1339 years old and archaeological sites from the Srivijaya era in Palembang there are 23 sites.
“Where the results of the research were long and intensive for 10 years but what happened was that there was no commitment from the relevant agencies, finally these sites have now turned into settlements, that’s what I think I got from friends, this also happened in the past era of the Sultanate of Palembang Darussalam,” he said.
Retno suggested to the Chair of the South Sumatra DPRD whether there would be a Governor’s Regulation (Pergub) to anticipate this.
South Sumatra historian Kemas Ari Panji assessed that the South Sumatra DPRD responded well to the aspirations of various parties at the meeting.
“It’s just a matter of how we will follow up in the future as well as from the South Sumatra DPRD, for example historical links such as there are SOPs that regulate development, when excavations are found historical objects,” he said.
In addition, the problem of research funding assistance for researchers and the community must be concreted by the South Sumatra DPRD.
“Actually, there are many things that are important to convey, not only limited to today’s recess, so there must be further communication after this,” he said. (mhn/bbs/ril)
