Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that people who will attend crowd activities must be vaccinated against COVID-19 booster (booster).
“The task force has issued a circular that for crowd activities the third dose of ‘booster’ is required,” said Airlangga at the Jakarta Presidential Office, Monday.
Airlangga conveyed this in a press conference after attending a limited meeting with an evaluation agenda for the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).
The circular letter in question is Circular Letter (SE) Number 22 of 2022 which is effective from June 21, 2022.
The regulation contains regulating events that are physically attended by more than 1,000 people, at the same specific time and location both indoors and outdoors.
In the SE, it is stated that children aged 6 to 17 years are allowed to enter with a mandatory second dose of vaccination. Meanwhile, those aged 18 years and over are allowed with a mandatory third or booster dose of vaccination.
“Then the President reminded the Peduli Protect application in various places to continue to be tightened, it should not be slack, because some monitored places are a bit slack,” said Airlangga.
It is also reminded that in some countries (cases) COVID-19 is still high, so the pandemic is not over yet. “Because this is an Indonesian gamble, we will hold it for the next 6 months because now 80 percent of the cases are BA.4 and BA.5,” he said.
The government, according to Airlangga, will also carry out serological tests to determine the condition of the community’s immunity to the SARS-CoV-2 virus and its variants.
“We see that in some malls it is not as strict as before. I monitor in several malls and activities are indeed barcoded (Peduli Protect) but many visitors enter without being ‘scanned’. tightened and outside, if you are close, please wear a mask,” said Airlangga.
Based on data from the COVID-19 Task Force as of July 3, 2022, the total number of confirmed positive cases in Indonesia increased by 1,614 cases, bringing the total cases to 6,093,917. Meanwhile, active cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia reached 16,919 cases.
Recovered cases also increased by 1,606 people bringing the total to 5,920,249 cases while the number of dead patients increased by 4 to a total of 156,749 since the COVID-19 pandemic hit Indonesia in March 2020.
As for the vaccinations carried out, the government has injected the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Indonesia with a total of 201,565,306 doses, the second dose that has been injected is 169,117,557 doses and the 3rd vaccination has reached 50,916,428 doses.
This means that booster vaccination is only 24.5 percent of the total vaccination target. (mhn/bbs)
