Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru inaugurated the Indonesian Taekwondo Province Board of South Sumatra for 2022-2026, with the theme “With the New Spirit of South Sumatran Taekwondo, let’s make South Sumatra Forward for All with High Achievements”.
HD said that Taekwondo is still not popular among the public, because if Taekwondo is popular, the people of South Sumatra will certainly like it.
“It is necessary to hold socialization for Taekwondo so that people know and like this sport so that in the end they will pursue their achievements. Make an impression on this Taekwondo sport, so that people will like it to attract people’s interest,” said HD.
HD said that the first task that the newly inaugurated taekwondo administrator had to do was to map the problem and then socialize this taekwondo sport, especially in the city because there are still many people who do not know the difference between karate and taekwondo.
“Congratulations on running such a special organization. I am sure that in the future National Sports Week (PON) in North Sumatra and Aceh, South Sumatra will get even more proud achievements,” concluded HD.
The General Chairman of PB Taekwondo Indonesia, Lt. Gen. (ret) H. Thamrin Marzuki, conveyed that the South Sumatra Province has great potential for Taekwondo Athletes, but its achievements still need to be improved. The need for support from the Provincial Government and all Regency / City Tarkwondo Management so that they work together to achieve the targets that have been determined.
The General Chairperson of the Indonesian Taekwondo Provincial Management of South Sumatra Hj. Melinda, S.Sos.M.Si said that the South Sumatra Province Taekwondo Target would be making new breakthroughs for continuous intensive training, starting training camps from cadets and seniors for national championships, targeting athletes to get medals at PON Aceh and North Sumatra.
Also present were the Head of the South Sumatra Provincial Government OPD, the South Sumatra Forkopimda and the South Sumatran KONI Chairman H.Hendri Zainuddin. (mhn/ril)
