The Spirit of the Freedom Fighters Inspired Herman Deru in Building South Sumatra

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – As a form of respect for the nation’s fighters who have shed sweat and blood for the independence of Indonesia, the Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru held a friendly meeting with these fighters.

“This is not a ritual event but it is a tribute to the fighters who have shed their sweat and blood for this country. This includes those who have contributed to this independence,” said Herman Deru.

According to him, the South Sumatra Provincial Government itself will continue to pay attention to the fighters. This includes continuing the struggle of the fighters.

“I want us as holders of the relay of this struggle to continue the wishes of our predecessors. This is a mandate that must be continued. Because there cannot be a present if there is no past,” he explained.

He said the freedom fighters must be used as inspiration in the current struggle.

Meanwhile, the fighter figure Kombes Pol (Retired) Teguh Prayitno said he was ready to support the government’s efforts and help in upholding Pancasila.

“Because the progress of this nation is non-negotiable. And we ourselves will certainly support the efforts made by South Sumatra at this time,” he said.

Also present were Independence Fighters, Retired Civil Servants, elements of the TNI and POLRI, Forkopimda, Paskibraka, and Heads of OPD Prov. South Sumatra. (mhn/ril)
