Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel) H. Herman Deru said that many local fruits from South Sumatra are no less delicious than imported fruits. One of them is durian from Muara Enim Regency, nicknamed the king with a distinctive pungent aroma, delicious taste, and very soft flesh.
“Our durian is not inferior in quality, even much better than imported durians such as montong durian. In Muara Enim, there are colored durian varieties that are not gassy. Our durians are stronger and tastier,” said Herman Deru who was accompanied by the Acting Regent of Muara Enim Kurniawan AP , M.Si while attending the 2022 Muara Enim Durian Festival.
Herman Deru appreciated the steps taken by the Muara Enim Regency Government together with Plumeria Ecopark for being so creative in polishing tourist attractions with tourist attraction activities, such as the 2022 Muara Enim Durian Festival.
According to him, durian must be bred and maintained its growth. So that the local durian from South Sumatra becomes a superior durian.
Meanwhile, the owner of Plumeria Ecopark, Dr. Doli Sitummpul, said that the durian festival had various competitions, such as the selection of the best and largest durian and a durian-based processed competition. In addition, there are also environmental care activities, namely by planting 1000 durian tree seeds.
In this Durian Festival, at least hundreds of durians are enjoyed together. This durian, imported directly from people’s gardens from various Muara Enim Districts.
