Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) and Chair of The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Puan Maharani was invited to ride a horse by Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) Chair Prabowo Subianto while visiting the residence of the Indonesian Defense Minister in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java Province, Sunday.
“It turns out that playing a horse also requires courage, a passion to be able to synergize with the horse and it turns out that this is not as easy as I see in movies or on TV,” said Puan in Hambalang, Sunday.
Previously, she arrived in Hambalang at around 10.45 WIB and was greeted directly by Prabowo in the pavilion of the house.
Wearing a black polo shirt and navy blue pants, Puan was present accompanied by the Secretary General of PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto. There are also a number of other PDIP figures, such as Said Abdullah, Utut Adianto, Bambang Wuryanto, Charles Honoris, Dolfie OFP, Mufti Anam, Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti, Gilang Dhielafararez, and Alex Indra Lukman.
Meanwhile, Prabowo was accompanied by several Gerindra elites, such as Secretary General Ahmad Muzani and the Daily Chair of the Sufmi Party Dasco Ahmad.
Welcoming Puan’s arrival was accompanied by the Gerindra family by singing the songs Indonesia Raya, Mars PDIP, and Mars Gerindra. After the reception, Puan then went to the locker room to put on her riding clothes.
Next, they rode on the racetrack at Prabowo’s house. Puan rides a Lusitano horse of Portuguese descent named Salero. The white horse was previously ridden by President Joko Widodo when he visited Prabowo’s house in 2016.
Meanwhile, Prabowo rides a brown horse named Cunhal. On that occasion, Puan was given a brief training by the instructor before starting to ride for about 15 minutes. Puan also had time to show off her half pass skills, which is the style of riding with the front legs in a crossed position.
Then, Puan feeds the horses with fruits and carrots.
“This is what feeds you, Speaker of the DPR,” joked Prabowo while stroking Salero’s horse, as quoted from a written statement.
After riding, Puan was also entertained by Prabowo to enjoy a meal next to the riding arena. They sat opposite each other at a rectangular table. After a break after the luncheon, Puan and Prabowo held a one-on-one meeting at Wisma 1 Hambalang which is next to the main hall.
“It is a great honor for Mrs. Puan Maharani to come. I feel very close to the family of Mrs. Puan, the family of the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri President and Mr. Taufik Kiemas. So, family relations have been established for a long time,” he explained.
Next, Puan expressed her gratitude for the welcome from Prabowo and the Gerindra ranks.
“Thank you for the warm welcome on this occasion. I was allowed to try his favorite horse. Horse riding needs the right theory, it needs calm, you can’t be nervous and I come here full of peace because I feel like I have come to my own family home.
