Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Political observer Hendri Satrio believes that there is a special message from PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri who has assigned her daughter Puan Maharani to establish communication with other political parties ahead of the 2024 General Election.
Hendri in Jakarta, Tuesday, believes that the important mandate given by Megawati is an implied message that Puan prepares herself to be promoted as a presidential candidate from the PDIP in 2024.
Of the many potential candidates currently in PDIP, he said, it was Puan who was considered the most worthy of being promoted in the 2024 presidential election.
“Moreover, the Secretary General of the PDI-P Hasto Kristiyanto has stated that the presidential candidate owned by the PDIP must have a clear and firm ideological line in accordance with the mandate issued by the spirit, vision and mission of the PDIP,” he said.
From the start, he continued, Megawati had prepared Puan to become the country’s leader.
Megawati fostered her political career, starting from serving as a member of the House of Representative (DPR RI), becoming the Chair of the PDIP Faction in the DPR RI, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, to the Chair of the DPR RI.
By assigning Puan to open communications to other political parties, Megawati is considered to want to show how the quality of Puan is now more mature.
“I think the more we talk directly with Puan Maharani, the more obvious her qualities will be,” said this political observer from Paramadina University.
Not only is Puan more qualified, she is also considered worthy of being promoted as a presidential candidate because she adheres to the ideological line of the PDIP.
“So what Puan is doing is not just communication or lobbying, but showing the true identity of PDIP to the public through other political parties. The spirit of democracy fostered by PDIP can be transmitted to other political parties through Puan’s figure,” he explained.
Hendri thought it would be very interesting to see Puan build communication with opposition parties, such as the Democratic Party and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).
The founder of the Indonesian Public Opinion Study and Discussion Group Survey Institute (Kedai Kopi) believes that Puan can open communication with opposition parties brilliantly.
This is because Puan has had experience leading the PDIP faction in the DPR RI as an opposition when the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was in power.
“Obviously, PDIP has been in the opposition, so Mbak Puan’s communication with Democrats and PKS will not be difficult, so that it will be interesting and become a milestone for Indonesia. The unifying history of Soekarno is brought by Puan Maharani in her mission,” said Hendri. (mhn/bbs)
