Palembang, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra Legislative Council (DPRD) chairman Hj RA Anita Noeringhati said that her party would convey aspirations related to the rejection of the fuel price hike by the Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM), to the Indonesian House of Representatives.
The head of the South Sumatra DPRD said that the demonstrations carried out by students against the increase in fuel prices represented the voice of the community.
“Of course, the aspirations of students who represent the people regarding the increase in fuel prices must be accepted and will be submitted to the Indonesian House of Representatives,” said Anita Noeringhati after accepting student demands in front of the gates of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD office, Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
Anita said that the increase in the price of fuel oil (BBM) was not the will of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD, but the central policy.
“There are no obstacles from this action, both from IMM and other related parties who want to carry out demonstrations, the point is that we will bring the demands to the Central House of Representatives,” she said.
Meanwhile, the General Chairperson of the South Sumatra Province IMM DPD, Robiatul Maulana, added that IMM did not come down solely to block the roads.
But they went down together to convey the aspirations of the Indonesian people, especially the people.
“Of course we strongly reject the increase in fuel prices, we also see that the bad government does not convey to the public either subsidies and other assistance,” he said.
Robiatul Maulana said that his party received an issue that the South Sumatra Provincial Government was ranked as the 10th poorest in Indonesia.
“Therefore, we carried out this demonstration, of course, to convey our demands,” he concluded.
Previously, it was reported that a number of students refused to raise fuel prices again at the gate of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD office, Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
Dozens of students who reject the increase in fuel prices are known to be members of the Palembang Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM).
The Field Coordinator (Korlap) who refused to increase fuel prices, M Wahyu Nugroho said that one of the aspirations expressed in supporting the people was to ask for lower fuel prices.
“In this case, we think that the DPR RI is incompetent in managing the people, because it does not side with the people. With the increase in fuel prices, it will only add to the burden on the community,” he said, Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
Wahyu said that his party also ensured that this was in the interest of the Indonesian people, therefore the spearhead of the people was conveyed to the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD council building. (ojn/bbs)
