Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru took part in the Regional Inflation Control Coordination Meeting which was attended by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Joko Widodo.
On that occasion, Jokowi conveyed that related to the fuel price adjustment that was carried out some time ago, he said it would have an impact on price increases in other sectors and this inflation must be prevented by the Government in collaboration with Regional Governments.
“The Regional Government and the Central Government work together, just like we worked during the Covid-19 pandemic. I believe we can control our inflation,” said Jokowi.
He also said that the Governors, Regents and Mayors should not hesitate in using the allocation of funds to provide subsidies in order to resolve the effects of fuel price adjustments in the form of social assistance. Especially to people who are affected and in dire need, such as fishermen, motorcycle taxis, MSMEs, public transportation, and others.
Responding to the president’s directive, HD instructed the relevant OPD to immediately map the directly affected communities and create an efficient and effective scheme in detail in accordance with the regional inflation prevention target.
“The priority is to map for assistance such as online motorcycle taxi operators, SMEs and others,” said HD.
