Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru hopes that there will be an acceleration of insight into craftsmen from South Sumatra in terms of skills, capital, and how to market their products. He said this when he opened Kriya Sriwijaya Home Decoration 2022 which was held by the South Sumatra Dekranasda.
“Improving skills can be done by inviting craftsmen who are experts in their fields to provide training, or sending craftsmen from South Sumatra to study in places of skilled craftsmen by joining the work and getting paid by the provincial government,” he said.
HD believes that existing human resources are able to absorb the knowledge they have learned and then share it with other craftsmen. According to HD, South Sumatra is already qualified in the source of raw materials to processing, but is still lacking in the finishing stage or working on craft details to become products.
In addition, HD hopes that the Dekranasda of South Sumatra will cooperate with partners to provide literacy in terms of capital and markets on a regional, national and export scale gradually.
“The initial stage of marketing can be started from the Regents/Mayors or the Governors who wear regional specialties. This can be a trendsetter because all of you can be role models and must be followed,” he said.
The head of the South Sumatra Dekranasda, Hj. Feby Herman Deru said that the South Sumatra Dekranasda always tries to promote and develop handicraft products from the district/city Dekranasda in South Sumatra. Almost all types of products developed by Dekranasda Sumsel have been promoted and marketed at Kriya Sriwijaya Home Decoration.
This activity has become an annual agenda and is the second time in 2022. And will be carried out for 2 days, with the aim of promoting to the wider community the creativity of the craftsmen assisted by the South Sumatra Dekranasda. (mhn/ril)
