HD: The Strength of South Sumatra is in Tolerance of Diversity

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru appreciated the spirit that came from Hindus, in helping to build the South Sumatra Province with an attitude of tolerance, cooperation, mutual respect and love.

This was conveyed during the South Sumatra Governor’s Gathering with the Hindu Community, as well as the handing over of the Social Security Social Security Card to Sulinggih, Serati and Hindu Customary Stakeholders.

HD admitted that he was grateful that he was born in the province of South Sumatra, where the people can accept anyone and be accepted by anyone. Moreover, what is unique to the people of South Sumatra is because of their hospitality.

“What is taught from the basis of our country from the third precept is the unity of Indonesia. I want to remain one in one forum, I always remind all religions, do not let conflicts occur within religion itself,” he said.

According to HD , the brotherhood between religious communities in South Sumatra Province has been very harmonious since ancient times. Therefore, he advised the community to remind each other, not to let the children and grandchildren forget the identity that has been maintained.

“I am grateful that in every big event, Hindus invite all parties, this is reflected in the tolerance for diversity, which is a strength for the province of South Sumatra. As a regional leader, I invite the whole community to strengthen the ties of brotherhood and the spirit of togetherness,” he concluded

Meanwhile, the Hindu Religious Leader Marshal TNI (Ret.) Ida Bagus Putu Dunia in his opening remarks said that with the great attention of the Governor of South Sumatra, he could improve the quality of Hindu devotion to the state, through Dharma Agama and Dharma Negara.

“The noble step of a leader to prosper his people physically and mentally. We thank the Governor of South Sumatra. Through the dharma of religion and the dharma of the state, we will build the province of South Sumatra both economically and securely,” he added. (mhn/ril)
