Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra, H. Herman Deru (HD) attended the smile activity with 1444 Orphans which was held at the Jamik Tjik Luwi Al Mosque – Murhaniah Sugi Waras Talang Jambe, Kec. Sukarame, Palembang.
On that occasion, HD said that our task of giving love to orphans is not only done in the month of Ramadan, but at any time.
“Our job is to show that affection, not only in the month of Ramadan, but at any time. What we are doing today is just a stimulant to encourage them,” he said.
HD also emphasizes that it is everyone’s main duty to lead them to become productive human beings.
“Our duty is to make our children useful. Useful for themselves, their families and many people by having ahlakul kharimah,” said HD.
“To all the children, I ask that what was said earlier be accepted and put to good use,” added HD.
In addition, HD also handed over assistance to 600 orphans from 16 orphanages in the form of sarongs, mukenah and compensation. He also handed over assistance to 500 underprivileged residents living around the event location in the form of 5 kg of rice per person. (mhn/ril)
