HD: Archiving Data Becomes the Basis for Further Policy Determination

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru invited all parties starting with the Archives Service to be more aggressive in archiving data. He expressed this when opening the Coordination Meeting (Rakor) of Heads of Regional Archives Institutions throughout Indonesia.

“Don’t just wait, but look for it. Moreover, at this time the level of public awareness of archives is getting better. At this time, the importance of archives is felt from many things, especially for regional governments on matters related to regional assets,” he said.

HD invites archival associations to fix the existing archives in the regions, especially in South Sumatra, especially in the newly created regions. According to him, every data needs to be archived so that it can be used as a basis for making further policies.

Head of South Sumatra Archives, Prof. Dr. H. M. Edwar Juliartha, S.Sos., M.M., said this activity aims to create quality archives in the region and overcome the national archival emergency, speed up the electronic filing system, prepare the agenda for the 52nd archival day.

Head of the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI), Drs. Imam Gunarto M.Hum., appreciated the support of the Governor of HD in the field of archives. He invited archival association associations to work together to deal with archival emergencies.

South Sumatra can be a benchmark for archiving movements in society.

On that occasion, the Governor of HD and the chairman of ANRI witnessed the signing of the MoU on cooperation in disaster management and archiving between the BPBD and the South Sumatra Archives Service. (mhn/ril)
