Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Chairperson of the Legislative Council (DPRD) of South Sumatra Province, Mrs. Hj. R.A. Anita Noeringhati, SH., MH., attended the inauguration of the Legal Aid Foundation for South Sumatra with Justice (YBHSSB) DPC Palembang City, chaired by M. Yasir, SH., at the Education and Training Center of the Palembang Ministry of Religion. Saturday (8/4/2023).
In her remarks, the Chairperson of the DPRD Prov. Sumsel advised the Management of YBH SSB Palembang City to be able to provide legal assistance to people who need legal assistance in Palembang City, and hopefully YBH SSB will continue to grow and provide great benefits for the people of Palembang City.
“With the hope that in the future the DPC City Legal Aid Foundation will continue to work together with the City and Provincial Governments in eradicating legal injustice, especially those that occur in underprivileged communities, especially in the city of Palembang,” hoped the chairperson of the South Sumatra DPRD Hj. RA Anita Noeringhati, SH, MH.
The Right to Legal Assistance, Based on Law No. 16 of 2011 concerning Legal Aid, Article 1 paragraph (1) states that Legal Aid is legal services provided by Legal Aid Providers free of charge to Legal Aid Recipients.
Recipients of Legal Aid are people or groups of poor people who cannot fulfill their basic rights properly and independently who face legal problems.
Meanwhile, in SEMA No. 10 of 2010 concerning Guidelines for Providing Legal Aid, Article 27 states that those who are entitled to services from the Legal Aid Post are people who cannot afford to pay for the services of advocates, especially women and children and people with disabilities, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
In accordance with RI Law No. 18 of 2003 concerning advocates, FREE LEGAL ASSISTANCE Article 22 (1) Advocates are obliged to provide free legal assistance to justice seekers who cannot afford it.
This is the purpose of the legal aid foundation (SSB) DPC City of Palembang was formed to guarantee and fulfill the rights of legal aid recipients to get access to justice, realizing the constitutional rights of all citizens in accordance with the principle of equality in law, guaranteeing certainty that the implementation of legal aid is carried out in an effective manner. evenly throughout the territory of the State of Indonesia, especially the city of Palembang.
