Palembang, The Indonesia Post – In the last ten months, the government has made great and extraordinary efforts to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic. Health care, social protection for vulnerable and affected communities, to providing support for MSMEs and the business world to be able to survive in the midst of a pandemic are the scope of some of these efforts.
Regarding this, President Joko Widodo hopes for the support and contribution of various parties to jointly handle the pandemic and further develop innovations for the progress of Indonesia. One of the hopes was conveyed by the President to the Alumni Corps of the Islamic Student Association (KAHMI), where many cadres have gained trust in various fields such as bureaucracy, politics, and the business world.
“The great trust that KAHMI holds is of course followed by great hopes for KAHMI, namely the hope of contributing greatly to facing the current pandemic, developing innovations for the advancement of Indonesia, and appearing at the forefront of fighting for Wasathiyah Islam and planting Pancasila values,” he said at gave a virtual speech at the Opening of the KAHMI III National Coordination Meeting in 2021 from the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, on Friday, January 15, 2021.
The President said that Indonesia did not want to simply get out of the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, but instead took part in making many leaps of progress in the midst of this crisis.
Some of the initial foundations to support this have been put in place. Among other things, improving the national economic ecosystem through the Job Creation Law, bureaucratic reform and legal certainty, to strengthening development financing through the Indonesia Investment Authority, which is Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund.
“With these various efforts and support from all components of the nation, we hope that as many job opportunities as possible can be created, business development can flourish, and MSMEs can move up in class. Of course poverty can be alleviated and we can increase equitable development, “said the President.
The President understands that the big role of KAHMI cadres in the 1960s in reforming the life of religion and nation which is the anchor of the advancement of Islamic preaching which is rahmatan lil’alamin is very felt until now. It is hoped that this role will continue to be maintained in the future activities of KAHMI.
“I also hope KAHMI will contribute greatly in developing breakthroughs in various fields, especially in human resource development, innovation development, science and technology, and entrepreneurship development, especially among the younger generation,” he added.
The Head of State emphasized that with Islamic support for Indonesianism, religious modernization and moderation, as well as with hard work towards mastery of science and technology and innovation, the vision of Advanced Indonesia can be achieved more quickly. (ray/bbs)
