Jakarta, TheIndonesiaPost – The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta decided to extend large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) until May 22, 2020. DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said the decision was taken because currently, positive corona cases are still occurring. But the intensity is sluggish.
Since the new PSBB began on April 10, there have been 1,810 positive cases in Jakarta. The number of cases increased to 3,399 on April 22. Noted, the addition of cases by 1.88 times during the 13 days of the implementation of the PSBB.
Meanwhile, based on the same data, when the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government only issued an appeal for activities at home on March 16 to 22, the surge in cases occurred by 3.16 times over five days.
On March 16, a positive corona case in Jakarta was recorded in 97 cases. The number of positive patients jumped to 307 cases on March 22, 2020.
Then when there was a policy of limiting transportation operations on March 23-April 9, the positive case of corona in Jakarta was still quite high. During those 17 days, the number of cases increased to 4.83 times.
On March 23 there were 356 positive cases, and there were 1,719 positive cases on April 9, 2020.
“Our data show that the movement of positive cases in COVID is still growing,” Anies said at a press conference at City Hall on Wednesday (22/4) as quoted by CNN Indonesia.com.
Anies asked the entire community to remain compact and disciplined in implementing the rules during the PSBB extension period.
“The more disciplined we are to be at home, reducing outside activities, the less interaction, the less potential transmission, Insya Allah, this plague can be resolved faster,” Anies said.
Anies said that the application of PSBB is currently entering the law enforcement phase. Anies reminded all parties not to violate the PSBB rules, including companies that tried to steal the opportunity.
“The appeal phase is over, now the enforcement phase. Because of that in the days ahead, all who violate are not given a warning anymore, but are immediately dealt with,” he said. (ras/bbs)
