Prabowo: Jokowi Works for the People

Jakarta, TheIndonesiaPost – Gerindra Party Chairperson Prabowo Subianto spoke out at the criticism directed at the current government.

It is known, the Jokowi-Ma’ruf administration is under pressure related to efforts to deal with the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). Various efforts made by Jokowi and his staff were criticized, from how to respond to the corona outbreak in January-early March 2020 until the last issue of Perppu 1/2020 which is now being sued at the Constitutional Court, as well as online training programs in the pre-employment card for COVID-19, affected.

According to Prabowo, Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) continued to fight for the interests of the nation, state and people of Indonesia.

Thus the testimony was delivered by Prabowo in the Gerindra Party Chairman’s Resolution to All Volunteers and Cadres through a Facebook and Twitter account uploaded on Wednesday (4/22) night.

“As long as I am a member of his cabinet, I testify that he continues to fight for the interests of the nation, nation, and people of Indonesia,” Prabowo said in the video quoted by CNNIndonesia.com.

Prabowo said this was related to his decision to join the 2019 presidential election administration. Prabowo lost to Jokowi in the presidential election before finally choosing to become part of the cabinet by becoming Minister of Defense.

Since serving as Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo admitted that he saw closely Jokowi’s way of making various decisions concerning state interests. According to him, in making decisions Jokowi always prioritizes the poor and weak people.

“I look closely at his methods of decision making. And what has always been the basis of his decision making is the safety of the poorest and weakest people,” Prabowo said.

Although he had opposed Jokowi in the two Presidential Elections, Prabowo stressed that political opponents are not enemies but are still brothers. He warned that whatever problems in Indonesia at this time there should not be any disunity.

“I do not want to be part of the split. Whatever the costs we have to pay, however sad we feel we must set aside for the greater interests. For this reason, we are now working with Indonesian President Mr. Jokowi,” Prabowo said. (ras/bbs)
