HD: Make the 2025 PBSI Sumsel Cup Championship a Key Momentum to Produce New Badminton Stars

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra Governor H. Herman Deru officially opened the 2025 PBSI Sumsel Cup Badminton Championship, held at the Pakri Sports Hall in Palembang on Monday (September 8, 2025).

The championship, initiated by the PBSI South Sumatra Provincial Executive Board, will feature approximately 600 talented young athletes from various regions. They will compete from September 8 to 14, 2025, to compete for the championship title and hone their competitive experience.

In his remarks, Governor Herman Deru, as the Advisor to PBSI South Sumatra, expressed his appreciation for the high level of interest from the participating athletes. He emphasized that their enthusiasm and hard work are key to producing a new generation of champions.

“Your interest and perseverance have brought you here. From this field will emerge new champions who can bring pride to their respective regions, and even our nation,” said Governor HD.

With the enthusiasm of hundreds of young athletes, the 2025 PBSI South Sumatra Cup is expected to be a crucial opportunity to develop new badminton stars and strengthen South Sumatra’s position as a national athlete-producing region.

The Head of the South Sumatra PBSI Provincial Executive Board, H. Fauzi Amro, stated that this tournament is not just a competition, but also a training ground to produce high-achieving badminton athletes who can bring honor to South Sumatra and Indonesia.

Also in attendance were the Head of the South Sumatra Financial Services Authority (OJK), Arifin Susanto; the Deputy Regent of Palu; Iwan Tuaji; the Deputy Speaker of the South Sumatra Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD); H. Nopianto; the South Sumatra DPRD member, Alfrenzi Panggarbesi; and the Heads of the South Sumatra Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD). (rys/ril)
