BMKG warns of the potential for heavy rain in most parts of Indonesia

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that almost all provinces in the country have areas that have the potential to experience heavy rains, with a number of areas included in the alert category for the impact of heavy rains.

In a weather early warning quoted on the BMKG website from Jakarta, Thursday, BMKG predicts provinces that have the potential to experience heavy rain are Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Riau Islands, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra and Lampung.

Meanwhile, Banten, West Java, DKI Jakarta, Central Java, D.I Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan and East Kalimantan are also predicted to experience heavy rains.

Similar potential can occur in North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, West Papua and Papua.

For South Kalimantan and North Maluku, BMKG predicts rain with a lighter intensity.

Especially for DKI Jakarta, thunderstorms have the potential to occur in South Jakarta and East Jakarta this afternoon. Meanwhile, moderate intensity rain is forecast in West Jakarta and Central Jakarta in the afternoon. Meanwhile, North Jakarta has the potential to experience light rain during the day and the Thousand Islands may experience it in the early hours of the morning.

The BMKG has warned that a number of areas have the potential to be affected by heavy rains, such as floods, with NTT, South Sulawesi and Papua in the alert category.

Provinces whose areas are included in the flood alert category, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, South Sumatra, Lampung, Riau Islands, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, D.I. Yogyakarta, East Java, Banten, Bali, NTB.
