Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Minister of Foreign Affairs (Menlu) Retno Marsudi said Indonesia was focused on producing concrete cooperation programs or concrete delivarables throughout the G20 Presidency series until the G20 Summit Summit in November 2022.
“I am not pessimistic, I am optimistic that we will be able to produce collaborative projects that are concrete in nature, which will be beneficial not only for G20 member countries but also for the world community,” said Retno at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday.
Concrete deliverables are projects that have been carried out by G20 member countries, either nationally, bilaterally, or multilaterally, which other countries can implement as solutions to similar problems.
Concrete deliverables are a list of project proposals, programs, or initiatives that take the theme of the 2022 G20 working groups, which aim as concrete actions for member countries after the G20 meeting series is over.
Indonesia, as the holder of the 2022 G20 Presidency, uses a concrete deliverables approach to realize a better life expectancy for the community.
“We will continue to concentrate on concrete deliverables, we will continue to work,” said Retno.
At the G20 Summit, she continued, there will also be an outcome document agreed upon by the countries and regions of the G20 members. Retno predicts negotiations if the outcome document is tough.
“Under normal conditions, G20 negotiations are never easy, especially under abnormal conditions,” she said.
Retno is also optimistic that the G20 Summit summit will run well and produce benefits for all parties. She said the world believed in Indonesia’s role so far. Indonesia has always been considered a bridge builder country capable of providing solutions to every problem.
“So, this world trust given to Indonesia is what we are trying to capitalize on so that the G20 can still work,” she said.
The G20 Summit in November 2022 will be the culmination of the entire flow of the G20 Presidency meetings, namely Sherpa Track, Financial Track, Engagement Groups.
The G20 is a global forum consisting of 19 countries and one region with a contribution of 80 percent of the world’s gross domestic product (GDP), 75 percent of international trade, and 60 percent of the world’s population. (mhn/bbs)
