Indonesia played goalless against Vietnam in the semifinal first leg

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Indonesian national team played out a goalless draw against Vietnam in the first leg of the AFF Cup semifinal at the Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, Friday afternoon.

In this match, Indonesia appeared dominant and often made threats to Vietnam’s defense, but no goals were scored.

Furthermore, Indonesia will play the second leg of the 2022 AFF Cup semi-final against Vietnam at the My Dinh Stadium, Hanoi, Monday (9/1).

Indonesia needs to win the match or hold Vietnam to a draw with a goal in order to ensure a place in the 2022 AFF Cup final.

In the first half, both teams played on the counter-attack, but Vietnam threatened first, but still failed to find the target.

Once threatened, Indonesia has repeatedly threatened Vietnam’s defense line and one of them was through the efforts of Dendy Sulistyawan whose bait was still unable to be met by his colleagues.

Furthermore, Indonesia posed a threat, through the movement of Yakob Sayuri, whose shot hit a Vietnamese defender and only resulted in a corner kick.

Yakob Sayuri again had a golden opportunity, this time through a hard kick from outside the penalty box, but the ball was still sideways at Dang Van Lam’s goal.

Sayuri again provided an opportunity for the Garuda squad after being able to stab to the right side of the penalty box, but his shot was still able to be driven away by the Vietnamese defender.

Indonesia again posed a threat, this time through Marselino Ferdinan’s kick, but his shot was still weak so the ball was saved by the Vietnamese goalkeeper.

In the remaining time of the first half, both Indonesia and Vietnam tried to find a goal, but until halftime the score remained equal without a goal.

In the second half, Indonesia took the initiative to attack first, but Vietnam’s defense was able to stem the attack from the Garuda squad.

Vietnam often commits heavy fouls on Indonesian players, this makes attacks from Yakob Sayuri and colleagues not like the first half.

Indonesia was able to create opportunities through Pratama Arhan, but the Tokyo Verdy player was too hard and bounced over the Vietnam crossbar.

In the remaining time of the second half, Indonesia failed to dismantle Vietnam’s defense so that the score was equal without a goal until the long whistle sounded. (mhn/bbs)
