Indonesian Railways: Fully vaccinated passengers don’t need COVID-19 test

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Indonesian Railways (PT Kereta Api Indonesia) Persero states that long-distance train customers who have received the second (complete) or third (booster) dose of vaccination are not required to show a negative result of the RT-PCR or Antigen test during the boarding process starting March 9, 2022.

KAI’s VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus said the regulation was adjusted to the issuance of the Ministry of Transportation’s SE No. 25 of 2022 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Domestic Travel by Rail Transportation during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

“KAI always follows and complies with all regulations from the government in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 on rail transportation modes,” said Joni Martinus in a written statement received in Jakarta, Wednesday.

Joni said that to validate customer vaccination data, KAI has integrated the KAI ticketing system with the Peduli Lindung application. As a result, customer vaccination data can be directly known by KAI at the time of booking tickets through KAI Access, the KAI website, and at boarding.

“Customers who do not complete the requirements as well as customers who have been vaccinated but are positive for Covid-19 within the past 14 days, are not allowed to travel and are welcome to cancel their tickets,” he said.

In accordance with the Decree of the Ministry of Transportation No. 25 of 2022, the long-distance train transport capacity is a maximum of 100 percent. However, customers are still required to comply with health protocols in a disciplined manner when using train services.

Joni added that KAI is collaborating with the Ministry of Health, TNI/Polri, and the local Health Service to provide vaccination services for long-distance train customers at various stations and KAI’s Medical Clinics.

“KAI continues to ensure that all customers apply health protocols in a disciplined manner and only allow customers who meet the requirements to be able to board the train,” he concluded.
