Jokowi: Don’t Let Corona’s Second Wave to Happen

Jakarta, TheIndonesiaPost – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reminded all communities to take care of their health and familiarize themselves with new habits according to health protocols.

All were asked to be on guard so that the second wave case or the second wave of the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) did not occur in Indonesia.

“And I need to remind you that there should not be a second wave, a second wave, a surge should not occur. This is what I want to remind all of us,” Jokowi said during a visit to the Office of the National Task Force for the Co-19 Handling Acceleration in Jakarta, Wednesday (10 / 6) as quoted from CNNIndonesia.com.

Jokowi also asserted that the government’s big task to minimize the spread of the coronavirus in the country is not over. According to him, the condition of the distribution of corona in each region in Indonesia is still very dynamic

“There are areas where new cases are down, and there are areas where new cases are increasing, there are areas that are already nil,” Jokowi said.

Seeing these conditions, Jokowi stated that when people have to adapt to the coronavirus in carrying out their daily activities.

The condition, he said, will continue to be faced until the corona vaccine is found and can be used effectively for all Indonesian people.

It is known, the second wave of the spread of COVID-19 was also experienced by a number of countries including Japan and Iran. Japan, for example, has to face the second wave of corona transmission after reaching a record zero for new cases from 30 April to 22 May. The second wave of corona occurred after Kitakyushu City in Fukuoka found 119 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 11 days.

Not only Japan, Iran also reported a second wave of corona after loosening the lockdown rule or limiting social and economic activities. Iranian authorities have reported the number of new cases reaching 3,574 cases on Wednesday, June 3, 2020.

“Adapting does not mean we give up let alone loose, no. But we start new habits that comply with health protocols so that people are productive and safe from the transmission,” Jokowi said.

In addition, Jokowi also stated that the opening of an area to a new normal phase or a new order of life in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic must go through strict stages. It is intended that there will be no significant increase in cases if the phase is implemented by the government

Jokowi also stated that the implementation of the new normal phase must refer to facts and field data owned by the Covid-19 Task Force.

He also requested that the Covid-19 Task Force could later provide a warning to areas where corona transmission cases again increased when the new normal phase was put in place.

“If the data is as good as that every day the area is given a warning that the case is high or increased or high mortality so that each region has the same vigilance in handling on the ground,” Jokowi said. (jekk/bbs)
