JAKARTA, TheIndonesiaPost – President Joko Widodo along with relevant staff conducted an evaluation of the large-scale social implementation (PSBB) implemented in 72 districts/cities and 4 provinces. The President called on Governors, Regents and Mayors to be careful in implementing Large Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) and not to rush.
“We want detailed assessments in provinces, districts, and cities regarding trend data to approve or replace new positive cases in each region that requests PSBB or not,” the President said, as reported by the Presidential team.
Based on available data, the implementation of PSBB in the regions indeed provides diverse results and benefits. Of that number, more than the number who have rejected the positive case of Covid-19 gradually, consistently, but not drastically. There are also areas that are improving but are still experiencing fluctuations and have not been consistent. In addition, there are also regions that implement PSBB, but based on positive numbers, there is not much adrift before the implementation of the PSBB.
“Things like this need to be underlined. What’s wrong, why? ” asked the president.
The data also reveals that from the 10 provinces with the most positive cases, there are only 3 provinces implementing PSBB, namely DKI Jakarta, West Java, and West Sumatra. While the rest are not approved by the PSBB. Therefore, the President said, it was also necessary to evaluate provinces, regencies, and cities that did not carry out CBSS and implemented a distance policy and implemented strict health protocols.
“This should be compared to PSBB or non-PSBB because there are indeed innovations in the field using models that support activities in the community that is tailored to the context in each region,” the President said.
In the case of implementing PSBB in the regions, the Head of State requested that in the implementation and implementation, each region was not successful at the administrative administrative boundaries. The implementation of PSBB requires the handling of large areas that are interconnected so that interregional management in these large areas becomes integrated into the context of the PSBB.
According to the President, the Jabodetabek area is interrelated so that regulating the social mobility of the community can be carried out completely and better.
On the occasion, President Joko Widodo also asked the Covid-19 Handling Task Force to really ensure that Covid-19’s handling efforts in five provinces (in addition to DKI Jakarta) in Java was running effectively. The cause, as many as 70 percents of positive cases of Covid-19 and 82 percent of the highest death rates in Java.
