President Jokowi: Passenger Safety is The Main Thing

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – President Joko Widodo emphasized that the safety of transportation service passengers is the main thing, so the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) and the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) must take follow-up actions so that aircraft accidents do not occur again by conducting inspection and supervision.

President Jokowi, while inspecting the Sriwijaya Air 128 Aircraft Evacuation Post in Tanjung Priok, Jakarta, Wednesday, said there must be a follow-up regarding the inspection and supervision of planes that will fly.

“Immediately followed up by both the NTSC and Transportation, especially the inspection and supervision of planes that will fly for the safety of the community, for the safety of passengers,” said the President.

While inspecting the evacuation posts, the President also witnessed the provision of compensation to the families of victims from PT Jasa Raharja and the airline company Sriwjaya Air. The President asked that compensation for all victims’ families be completed immediately.

The Head of State also expressed his deep condolences to the families of the victims. “I want to convey my deep condolences, hopefully you will be given sincerity and patience,” he said.

The President also expressed his appreciation to the joint team for search and rescue (SAR) who helped the evacuation process of Sriwijaya Air. Jokowi hopes that the memory part of the voice cockpit recorder (VCR) in the black box of Sriwijaya Air will soon be found.

“I would like to express my gratitude, appreciation, highest appreciation to the joint SAR team consisting of the Ministry of Transportation, Basarnas, TNI, Polri and KNKT, as well as all elements that I cannot mention one by one for their hard work since the beginning of the disaster until now. and we know that large and small pieces have been found, then the black box has also been found, we are just waiting for the VCR, “said Jokowi.

The Sriwijaya Air plane with flight number SJ 182 on the Jakarta-Pontianak route, crashed in the waters near Male Island and Lancang Island, Thousand Islands, Saturday (9/1). The plane departed from Soekarno-Hatta Airport carrying 62 passengers, consisting of 6 active crew, 40 adults, 7 children, 3 babies and 6 crew as passengers. (ray/bbs).
