Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Chairman of Commission IV Legislative Council (DPRD) of South Sumatra (Sumsel) MF Ridho said the construction of the Trans Sumatra toll road section Kayu Agung-Palembang-Betung (Kapal Betung) was built on investment and did not use the South Sumatra Regional Budget (APBD) and National Budget (APBN).
“This is a private toll road managed by a state-owned company, namely Waskita Karya,” he said when he received the crowd who were members of the Ogan Komering Ilir Student Association (IMOKI) to hold a demonstration at the South Sumatra DPRD Building (Sumsel), Friday (25/2).
Present were Deputy Chairperson of Commission IV of the South Sumatra DPRD Hasbi Asadiki, members of Commission IV of the South Sumatra DPRD Efrans Effendi and David Hadrianto Aljufri.
Regarding the accident on the Palembang-Kayuagung toll road segment some time ago, according to Ridho, his party had immediately followed up on the issue and invited PT Waskita Karya to hold a meeting.
“We also report this to PT Waskita Karya Pusat because we think that we only convey the events and aspirations of the people who complain about toll road issues limited to the South Sumatra provincial level, we are still not sure that’s why we conveyed it directly to Waskita Karya Pusat and received by the director, and they has expressed its commitment to improve,” he said.
In addition, his party has also checked the location and it turns out that there is an action to repair the toll road.
“Before the brothers came here, we had already followed up,” he said.
The Democrat Party politician promised to monitor the work of Waskita in order to improve the safety of toll road users.
“We are grateful to the brothers who expressed their aspirations, hopefully you can understand that the Kapal Betung toll road does not belong to the South Sumatra Provincial Government but is an investment from Waskita Karya,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Action Coordinator, Andi Leo, asked the PUPR Ministry to review whether the toll road construction process was in accordance with the RAB, Juklak, and Juknis, if it didn’t fit, it was suspected that there were irregularities that resulted in road quality not being in accordance with the RAB.
Then asked the Governor of South Sumatra and the DPRD of South Sumatra to supervise carefully in carrying out the process of monitoring and inspecting this toll road, because the impact could lead to accidents and did not rule out the possibility of further casualties on the Kapal Betung Toll Road.
