Palembang The Indonesia Post – Deputy Governor of South Sumatra H. Mawardi Yahya (MY) said that to further strengthen the agricultural and plantation sectors in the midst of the Covid 19 Pandemic, the South Sumatra Provincial Government fully supports and facilitates the holding of the “South Sumatra IV National Leading Fruit and Agriculture Festival” on 04- 06 June.
He conveyed this when receiving an audience for the DPD HA IPB South Sumatra Alumni Association in order to report the results of the III IPB Sumsel DPD HA Regional Council and report the work program of the DPD HA IPB Sumsel 2020-2024.
MY also explained that in 2020, this is a year full of challenges. Where the Covid-19 Pandemic has an impact on the decline in the economy and trade sector. However, according to him the agricultural and plantation sectors are one of the sectors that can survive.
“The provincial government has no reason not to facilitate, this is proof of the concern of all elements of society to respect the farmers who have worked hard and played an active role in fulfilling food in South Sumatra,” he said.
MY also added that there is no need to doubt the productivity of agriculture and food in South Sumatra, therefore, this must be supported by intense marketing.
“We have to play a role, we know their role is extraordinary. South Sumatra has tremendous potential in agriculture and plantations which must be managed properly for the welfare of the community without destroying the surrounding environment, ” he said.
