Erick Thohir: state-owned enterprises helps housing for millennials at affordable prices

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – SOE Minister Erick Thohir revealed that state-owned companies took the initiative to help provide housing that is easily accessible by transportation and has affordable prices for the millennial generation.

“We took the initiative to help provide housing that is easily accessible from the city center by public transportation, at affordable prices for millennials,” said Erick Thohir as quoted from his official Instagram account @erickthohir in Jakarta, Monday.

According to the Minister of SOEs, housing like this can help achieve equity and accelerate economic growth.

“According to data, 31 percent of millennials in Indonesia do not own a house. Even though the millennial generation will be one of the pillars of the Indonesian economy with the demographic bonus,” he said.

Previously, the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir revealed that the collaboration of the State Savings Bank (BTN) with other SOEs was a solution to the housing needs for millennials.

Erick encourages the synergy of BTN, Perumnas, KAI, BUMN Karya, even PLN and Telkom to provide a one stop solution to Gen Z, to get convenience not only for housing but also in doing work.

The Minister of State-Owned Enterprises assessed that housing is a crucial problem throughout the world, including Indonesia with a population of more than 273 million people.

For this reason, it is necessary to find a one stop solution so that housing needs can be met not only for millennials but also for generation Z or Gen Z.

He assessed that synergy can provide something real to Gen Z, not only affordable housing but also efficiency in their daily lives where when they work they can access transportation facilities that make their work easier. (ojn/bbs)
