Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra, H. Herman Deru (HD) attended and launched the 2025 Home Improvement Movement Program (Gebrak) initiated by the Palembang City Government which is in line with the South Sumatra Simultaneous Home Renovation Movement.
In his speech, HD said he was proud to be able to launch the Gebrak program, where the program aims to improve the quality of people’s housing by repairing uninhabitable houses.
“This program is a real manifestation of the government’s attention to the basic needs of the community, especially in terms of decent and healthy housing,” said HD.
In supporting and realizing the central government’s program, namely the repair of 3 Million Houses. HD said that financing does not only rely on the APBN or APBD, it can also be done through cooperation with BUMN/BUMD companies and zakat agencies in South Sumatra.
“We can realize home repair assistance for people in need with financing through collaboration with BUMN/BUMD, Amal Zakat in South Sumatra. I hope this program can have a positive impact on the community and improve their quality of life,” said HD.
HD also invited all parties to continue to synergize and collaborate in realizing this program. With cooperation and mutual cooperation, we can create decent housing for the people of South Sumatra and improve their quality of life.
“Thank you to all parties who have contributed to this program. I hope Gebrak can be an example for other programs in improving the quality of life of the community,” concluded HD.
In addition, HD also asked the Director General of Urban Housing of the Ministry of Housing and Settlement of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Sri Haryati, S.Pi., M.Si to encourage Perumnas to move as soon as possible regarding the repair of flats in Palembang City so that people who live in flats can have decent homes and green open spaces.
On that occasion, the Director General of Urban Housing of the Ministry of Housing and Settlement of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Sri Haryati, S.Pi., M.Si said that the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, had given instructions to immediately repair 3 million uninhabitable houses in Indonesia, of which 1 million are in cities, 1 million in villages, and 1 million on the coast.
He said that in realizing it, the work must be done through mutual cooperation and collaboration between the central and regional governments.
“To build 3 million houses, it must be done through mutual cooperation in realizing it. Alhamdulillah, today we are launching 70 houses that will be renovated in Palembang. This is a real manifestation of supporting the realization of the 3 million houses program,” he said.
He further said that the Indonesian Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas is very open to discussions in resolving the problems faced by the South Sumatra Provincial Government in resolving the problem of inadequate housing in South Sumatra.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Palembang, Drs. H. Ratu Dewa, M.Si reported that Gebrak is currently renovating 70 inadequate houses of the Palembang City community which aims to improve the quality of houses that do not meet health and livable standards.
He also said that Gebrak is a collaborative program between the Palembang City Government and BUMN BUMD and the Private Sector through its CSR.
“This is a program of cooperation and collaboration between the government and BUMN/BUMD and the private sector. And this is a real manifestation of the state in guaranteeing the basic rights of the community, especially the city of Palembang,” he said.
The launching of Gebrak was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Housing and Residential Areas Fahri Hamzah after he reviewed the Workers’ Flats on Jl. Srijaya KM. 7 Palembang.
Also present were Member of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Ir. H. Isha Mekki, M.M., and the Heads of OPDs of South Sumatra Province. (ojn/ril)
