Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Regional House of Representatives/ Legislative Council (DPRD) of South Sumatra is furious with the incidents of work accidents that led to fatalities that occurred in a row. Commission IV will summon the relevant parties to obtain a comprehensive explanation regarding the incident.
It is known that two fatality cases occurred at the Muara Enim mine this week. First, the Exploration Permits (IUP) area of PT Bukit Asam (PTBA). Second, in the IUP area of PT Mining Muara Enim (MME). Last February, a work accident that claimed a life also occurred in the IUP PT Trimata Benua area, Banyuasin. In total, four workers’ lives have been lost in mining accidents since the start of this year.
“We will call all of them, Monday (18/4) tomorrow,” said Chairman of Commission IV of the South Sumatra DPRD, MF Ridho, Saturday (16/4).
Ridho deeply regrets this incident. He highlighted the side of supervision carried out by the Director General of Mineral and Coal through the Head of Mining Inspector (KaIT) assigned to South Sumatra, which is currently held by Oktarina Anggereyni.
“Inspectors of Mining, Service and Company (PTBA and PT MME) we asked to come,” said Ridho.
The summons of the relevant parties is also a form of responsibility of the South Sumatra DPRD to the community. On the other hand, the South Sumatra DPRD also holds all parties accountable.
According to Ridho, mining accidents in South Sumatra have occurred repeatedly and should not be allowed to continue. He considered this an extraordinary event. In fact, it is not impossible that if the negligence of the related parties is found, it can lead to a crime.
Cases of work accidents that take lives (fatality) in mining areas are believed to be like the tip of the iceberg phenomenon. Events that are revealed on the surface, are only a small part of the total events that are not revealed to the public. (mhn/bbs/ril)
