Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Inventory of all customs and cultures of all ethnic groups in South Sumatra. That was the message from the Governor of South Sumatra, H. Herman Deru to the South Sumatra Traditional Guidance Committee who came to the audience with him, in his living room, Friday (28/08/20) afternoon.
According to HD, in the Sumatra region, South Sumatra has its own uniqueness, namely having more tribes than areas such as Aceh, Lampung, Bengkulu. Therefore, all cultural customs in the form of traditional clothing, according to him, need to be inventoried so that they do not become extinct.
“I want a special inventory from the indigenous people. So zoning and instructions are made. This inventory must be done as soon as possible so that this local wisdom does not become extinct. Because so far we can only see it at traditional wedding events,” HD said.
The inventory, he continued, could be from the smallest things, such as the typical South Sumatra incline, which varies in each tribe. “There are different shapes. Now agree on which one is typical of South Sumatra. Then traditional clothes and others. If necessary we include this in local content lessons at school,” he explained.
Furthermore, the word from HD, the difference is unique to South Sumatra, because even though it is different, South Sumatra remains one of the most peaceful areas in Indonesia, even known as the label of zero conflict. According to him, this cannot be separated from the participation of all elements of society, including the customary advisors who are competent in their fields.
“That’s what makes us unique. And the city is also known as a tribe that likes to negotiate and this must be maintained,” he said.
In addition to zone and clothing inventory, HD also plans to make new regulations for this management in the District / City. Where all will be handled by the Province.
“Not to be separated, but for togetherness and let there be pride for the committee as well,” added the Head of the Muslim World Malay World (DMDI) for Indonesia.
“I am the Chairperson of the Indonesian DMDI. How do I want to tell Malayness in Indonesia if in my own area it is not true,” he said.
In order to maximize the work of the customary advisors on this occasion, the Governor of HD also provided assistance for an operational car unit.
