Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The desire of the Governor of South Sumatra Province (Sumsel) H. Herman Deru to build a horse riding venue in Jakabaring Sport City (JSC) received appreciation and even received approval from the Chairperson of the Indonesian Equestrian Sports Association (Pordasi) Triwatty Marciano.
According to Triwatty, the plan of the Governor of South Sumatra Province to build facilities and infrastructure for equestrian sports is in line and in tune with the government’s goals that emphasize sports on three things, including sports tourism, science sports and industrial sports.
“I received news that the Governor was very interested in Pordasi’s activities, so I attended an audience with him. I really appreciate that he is one of the governors who really cares about the sport of horse riding because he said that horse riding is synonymous with the Prophet’s sunah, it can also bring red and white to the international world, “he said after having an audience with the Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru in the context of the plan to organize a national championship. The 54th Pordasi Horse Race for the 2020 Presidential Cup, in the Living Room of the Governor of South Sumatra (1/9).
Through the existing facilities and infrastructure, Triwatty further revealed that the venue will support the upcoming 2032 Olympics.
“Even though it is still far from 2032, we are currently building for the Olympics. Now in Pordasi there is a sports commission whose achievement is equestrian, hopefully with the facilities and infrastructure that will be broadcast by the South Sumatra Provincial Government, it will be able to help make long-term planning,” he added.
“Hopefully it can become a pilot project or role model for facilities and infrastructure, especially on the island of Sumatra and its surroundings. This also coincides with the holding of the presidential trophy race series 1 and 2 in DIY, hopefully on one day the Presidential trophy can also be held at the arena runway in Jakabaring, ” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the Governor of South Sumatra Province as well as the Chairperson of the South Sumatra Provincial Pordasi H. Herman Deru said that he was indeed very excited to increase public interest in equestrian sports. Therefore, he will soon realize an international horse riding venue at the Jakabaring Sport City (JSC), where in addition to presenting achievements, it will also provide recreation for the people of South Sumatra province.
“The people of South Sumatra still lack interest in horse riding, I am interested, there should be something that makes them interested, perhaps facilities and infrastructure with proper and adequate planning.
Sports including not an expensive sport, horses have been known since the time of our ancestors. Gradually this will be built soon, “he explained
Herman Deru emphasized that building the venue should not be emotional, so that the new function of accession should be prioritized.
“It is a mandatory function. Next year’s action will coincide with the development of interest. I instruct the Public Works Department not to start the wrong thing. What starts is the function, the new accessories follow.
