BANYUASIN, The Indonesia Post – The construction of the Kayuagung-Palembang-Betung Toll Road (Betung Ship) along 111.69 km, was resumed which was marked by groundbreaking by the Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel) H. Herman Deru who was also attended by the Minister of PUPR RI represented by Director General of the Ministry of Highways Hedy Rahadian, located on Jalan Palembang-Betung KM 25, Sembawa District, Banyuasin Regency, Thursday (15/10).
The groundbreaking event this time was a sign of the start of the Palembang-Betung segment toll road construction which continued to Section 2B and Section 3, where the length of the toll roads reached 69.19 km.
The Governor of South Sumatra, H. Herman Deru, in his remarks said that the Kapal-Betung toll road was not only intended to reduce traffic congestion on the Lintas Timur Sumatra road segment but also expected to accelerate the economic growth of the regions or areas crossed by toll roads.
“The Kapal-Betung Toll Road is not only to reduce congestion but also to accelerate economic recovery. In addition, it is to shorten the mileage,” said Herman Deru.
Furthermore, Governor Herman Deru hopes that in 2023 the Kapal-Betung toll road will operate in a timely manner. He also said that in the construction of the Kapal-Betung toll road, at least three bridges over the river were built, which, if calculated, will be the longest bridge in Indonesia.
“The Kapal-Betung Toll Road crosses three bridges, namely the 1589-meter Ogan Bridge, the 1217-meter Keramasan Bridge, and the 1684-meter Musi Bridge and is the longest toll bridge in Indonesia,” HD explained.
In addition to completing the construction of the Kapal-Betung toll road, he also hopes that the construction of the Palembang-Indralaya-Muara Enim-Lubuk Linggau-Bengkulu toll road will also be completed immediately, so that connectivity between regions in South Sumatra and between provinces in Sumatra will soon be realized.
“We hope that the Trans Sumatra toll road construction project will continue, including the continuation of the Lampung-Pekan Baru toll road,” he added.
Meanwhile the President Director of PT. On this occasion, Waskita Toll Road (WTR) Herwidiakto said that the Kayu Agung-Palembang-Betung (Kapal-Betung) toll road had three sections, namely Section 1 (Kayu agung-Jakabaring) with a length of 33.5 kilometers which was fully operational on April 1. . Likewise for Section 2 (Jakabaring – Keramasan – Musi Landas) which extends for 33.9 kilometers.
Meanwhile, Section 2A (Jakabaring-Keramasan) with a length of 9 kilometers is in the process of finalizing the construction to be operational in the near future. Section 2B and Section 3 (Palembang-Betung) along 69.19 km are targeted to operate in March 2022.
The construction of the Kapal-Berung toll road was built with a total investment of Rp 22.17 trillion which is included in the National Strategic Project for the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS). The infrastructure development is to increase Indonesia’s competitiveness.
“The presence of this toll road is expected to increase connectivity between regions and fulfill the needs of toll roads. In particular, the Trans Sumatra toll road is included in the National Strategic Project (PSN),” he explained.
On the other hand, the Minister of PUPR RI, represented by the Director General of the Ministry of Highways, Hedy Rahadian, gave his appreciation and gratitude to Governor H. Herman Deru and his staff who have actively supported the smooth construction of the Kapal-Betung toll road section.
“Thank you, the governor for your support, so that the construction of the Kapal-Betung toll road for the Palembang-Betung segment can be continued,” he said.
For information, the ground breaking ceremony for the Kapal-Berung Toll Road was marked by the signing of a work contract between PT Waskita and PT Waskita Sriwijaya Tol and pressing the siren button by the Director General of the Ministry of Highways, Hedy Rahadian, Governor of South Sumatra H.
